Clark & Emily Scharman Family

Mo and Dad, how can I even begin?! I am so grateful for both of you.  I have had such a happy life, good memories, happy childhood, so many opportunities and the best examples.  Every time I read that first chapter of The Book of Mormon I feel a blessed connection to Nephi, having been born of goodly parents.  The older I get and the more I see, the more gratitude I have for two individuals who made good decisions and who sacrificed for their family.  We have been blessed every day of our lives for it.  Our home growing up was inviting, fun, safe and happy.  I can't tell you how many times I have thought about how you both would do something or what kind of decision you would make to help me make my own.  I am grateful to have inherited things from both of you, both physical and characteristic, they are my favorite things about myself :)
You are intelligent, resilient, optimistic, faithful, creative, dedicated, fun, silly, hard working and compassionate.  I have grown a testimony of family history, temple, tithing, service and sacrifice, first lit as a child because not only was it taught in our home, I witnessed you live the principles.
Thank you for being real, and for sharing so much with us, for your time, for your attention, for your support and your constant validation.  It means the world to me and my family.
I love you both so much!!
Love, Emily

Dear Mo and Dad,

First of all, a HUGE congratulations on your 50th anniversary!!! That is so wonderful and beautifully symbolic of the devotion you have for one another.  You both have been amazing examples to me in so many ways!  In this particular example of a marriage that is built upon the sure foundation of the Gospel, love and respect for one another, and complete dedication to your eternal companion and your family- I feel tremendously blessed to be a part of your family.  I have always felt that way. I have always felt that it was a smidge insulting to refer to you as my in-laws because I feel that you have been so much closer to loving parents than merely in-laws. In fact, this year marks the tipping point that I have been your son-in-law longer that I haven't been!  I am truly overwhelmed by how you have raised and led your family, setting incredible examples of disciples of Christ all along the way. You have continued to serve, strengthen and care for our family over the last 20 years and for that I can't thank you enough.
I have a testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ in part because of how you live it.  My testimony of modern prophets and apostles has been strengthened as you share personal stories of serving with them.  My love for the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith has increased as you share your knowledge and testimony that they are true.  I have observed how you maintain an eternal perspective through trials and the difficulties of life and never waiver.  I have a sincere desire to serve the Lord in all I do in part because I have witnessed through your lifelong service to family and the Church the joy and blessings that come to those that put God first.  Finally, I appreciate and love the confidence and trust you put in us as we strive to raise your progeny! You always make us feel capable and successful.
In short, thank you for who you are and for honoring each other these last 50 years! You are an eternal blessing and treasure to me and my family! Happiest 50th!
Love,

Clark

Mo and Papa,
First off, I wanted to thank you for the Christmas card and book! I’m super grateful for the books that I have received from you over the years and excited to start my own collection of gospel literature. I’m more than grateful to be so close to you too (40 miles is close, compared to almost 2000 miles). Thank you for never failing to inspire me and serve as amazing examples of Christlike love and service. Because of you, I have learned how I can extend Christ’s love to others around me, how to better the relationships that I have with my family and with my Savior and how to rely on Him in every aspect of my life. I look up to you and love you dearly.
Love, Haley

Dear Mo and Papa,
Thank you for the Christmas card this year, along with the book. I’m excited to read the book and see what I get out of it. I’m happy that you guys were able to come visit this year and can’t wait until you visit again. The stories and experiences you share while you’re with us help me to strengthen my personal testimony on family history and eternal family.  I’m grateful for your example that you set for your grandchildren. I’m grateful that you engage with every single one of us personally and that you take the time to check up on us even though you have your own personal health issues to worry about. I’m grateful that the physical issues haven’t effected your relationships between you and your family. Because of my Oscarson grandparents and can say that my testimony has grown and I’m finding out my purpose in my family.
I love you Mo and Papa,
Mia

Dear Mo and Papa,
I feel like my testimony has been really strengthened because of you. I have learned new things
that I didn't even think about from reading saints book and all the young women stories. I am so
grateful to have you as grandparents because your strong testimonies of the gospel of our church
have helped strengthen a lot of other people including me in my life. I love to think about all the
cupcakes we made on that game over the years. These memories I have of us are so great and
joyful to remember.Your faith in God and Jesus Christ is just beyond statement and is really
helpful to others whether you realize it or not. . We hope you know of our great love for you and
the size of gratefulness we have for you is indescribable. We love you so much and hope you had
