Chris & Amy Carr Family

Dear Mom and Dad,

Happy 50th anniversary! It is impossible to try and articulate in a single letter
the impact and significance your lives and marriage have had on me and my
family. As I’ve contemplated your life together, I’ve come to see with more clarity
the eternal importance of the seemingly small choices that we make every single
day...choices to love, to serve, to sacrifice, to be kind and compassionate, to put
another person above ourselves, to be loyal and devoted, to look at and choose
priorities carefully, to choose goodness and light, to choose the right even when
it’s hard, to have faith, to follow the Savior, to choose each other every day, to
choose family. The day you chose each other, you chose so much goodness. Your
life together has taken unbelievable turns. You’ve had unfathomable adventures
and experiences. You’ve had challenges and hardships. But the day you chose
each other and chose to put the Savior at the center, you chose the ultimate path
that, whatever twists and turns you would face, would lead to the ultimate gift of
happiness. And you chose to give that gift to me.

I am here because of you. I owe my whole life to you! I’m so grateful for the kind
of parents you were and continue to be. I’m grateful that I’ve known unconditional
love because of you. I’m grateful for your patience and compassion. I’m grateful
that I grew up in a home where I never doubted how much my parents loved each
other and loved their children. I always knew we were important...the most
important people to each of you. I’m so grateful to have grown up in a home where
I was taught to know and love the Savior. I have felt His love countless times
through your love and service to me. I’m grateful for the effort you always made to
help us not only have strong relationships with each other, but with our extended
families. My family is blessed daily by these relationships on both sides of the veil.
I’m grateful for your individual testimonies of the gospel and for the power and
faith you have exercised on my behalf throughout my entire life. What a
tremendous blessing.

This is truly an incredible occasion to celebrate. It is an event that started 50 years
ago but has been cultivated and tended so carefully every single day since then.
I love both of you so much. I love who each of you are individually. I love who you
are together. I love the life you have created together.

Happy 50th anniversary!
With all my love,
Amy

Dear Bonnie and Paul,
Congratulations on fifty wonderful years together!
One of the things I appreciate the most about you is the relationship you have as grandparents to our children. You have a magical power that only a grandparent can possess that allows you to speak words of truth, comfort,  and wisdom to a restless toddler or a struggling teenager and have them actually listen. Your influence on them is priceless and powerful, and I have learned so much about parenting by observing how you interact with your grandchildren?always with Christlike love, unfailing patience, and infinite calm.
I love the relationship you have developed with them and the individual attention that you give to each of them?the birthday phone calls every year, the outings to see the latest movies, trips to Olive Garden and Chuck-O-Rama when we're out of town, the Church and family history tour with the older kids, and the visit to Sweden, complete with regular trips to the candy aisle at the grocery store to stock up on an endless variety of gummy treats (not to mention a bonus week getting stranded in Sweden due to a volcanic eruption in Iceland?we couldn't have planned or predicted it, but what a blessing it was to spend more time with grandparents!).
Thank you for living a life that stands as a testimony of faith in Jesus Christ. Every word, every deed bears testimony of your faith in and commitment to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Keeping the temple a central part of your life inspires us to do the same. We have all been blessed by your example of love, selfless service, charity, and faith.
Here's to an eternity of love and togetherness!
Love,
Chris

Dear Mo and Papa,

Thank you so much for everything you've ever done for me. For as long as I can remember you have been two of the biggest examples to me of everything I want to be. I don't know if I've ever met anyone who more selflessly loves everyone they come across than the two of you. Outside of maybe my own parents I also don't know of anyone who has done more to strengthen my testimony. The trip a couple of summers ago was one of the most spiritually powerful experiences of my life, and more than that I loved having the opportunity to spend more time with you guys. I'll never forget that week, or any of the other experiences I've had to learn from you and grow from your examples. I know I'm not great with words but I hope you can see how profound an effect you've had on me becoming the person I am today, and how much I sincerely love and look up to both of you more than just about anyone.

Love,
Jake

Dear Grandma and Grandma Oscarson,

I just wanted you to know how much you have changed my life.  You have been a perfect example of kindness,
christlike love, and how to live the gospel. Through callings or just everyday life you have best taught me how to be
a better man and follower of Christ. I will forever be grateful for your life and the part you play in my life.

Love your favorite grandchild matthew

Dear Mo and Papa,

I just wanted to tell you how amazing you two are. You are both such kind,
good people and you’re such a good example to me. You inspire me to be a good
person and to be kind to everyone I meet. I love when I can talk to you or
draw with you or when I just get to sit and listen to you tell stories. I’m
glad that I have such wonderful grandparents like you two.

Love your real favorite grandchild, Hannah
